The Big Party

The great celebration of the fulfillment of creation and history has already begun, and we're invited. My homily for this weekend is posted here.

hi Fr. C!
GREAT homily, again! thank you for your inspiration in helping me to reflect and focus and i was happy to be able to hear your homily in person, since you celebrated the 5:00 pm Mass yesterday.
what i got out of the readings and your homily for this week, i think, is that, yes, we can be free of all worry and anxiety. once again, i'm reminded of Jesus' Sermon on the Mount from the Gospel of Matthew, chapter 6, verses 25,27,28,31&34. I feel that Jesus is really commading us not to worry. i feel that this part of Sacred Scripture keeps coming to mind because, even though i'm normally not a worrier at all, for the past month i've been struggling a little bit with something that i can't quite name. i'm not sure if it's really worry or not, but i know that Jesus is definitely with me and trying to tell me something. i think that worry and anxiety are kind of like a fear and if we fear, then we are not putting our total faith and trust in God. and, yes, useless worry is a waste of our energy, since we should always be doing what God is calling us to do, such as feeding the hungry and showing care, love, kindness and compassion toward others. i also feel that coming to celebrate the Eucharist each week (even daily, if we can) is so important because we come together with others who we walk with in faith to be nourished and strengthened and then we are sent out to do the Will of God - each of us in our own unique way. just like somewhere in Sacred Scripture (i think it's in one of St. Paul's writings or in one of the Gospels) it says that we all have different gifts, but it's the same Spirit. so, we all aren't called to to feed the hungry in the same way - there are different ways each of us is called to do that.
PEACE!
