You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God

Peter's confession of apostolic faith is the rock foundation of the Church of Jesus Christ. My homily for this weekend is posted here.

hi Fr. C!
excellent homily this week! also, thanks for your homily at daily Mass this morning. it was beautiful!
as i reflect on the readings for this sunday and your homily, i'll share my understanding of it:
it is true that it "wasn't Peter's leadership qualities that the church is founded on," as you say in your homily, but it's Peter's "confession of faith," as you also mention.
i think, too, that many of us can identify with Peter because he was so human like us with many faults and often he often failed. i think that what made Peter Jesus' choice to be the rock on which the church is built is that Peter recognized the times he failed, but these failures didn't discourage him - Peter picked himself up and really embraced Jesus' forgiveness. it is important for us, too, to realize that when we fall and fail at things, we can and should pick ourselves up and get back on track and we should always keep in mind that Jesus is always there to forgive us. and, we, as Catholic christians need to also forgive one another. forgiveness is a very important message of our faith. and with forgiveness comes healing and peace.
PEACE!

hi Fr. C!
your homily was even better the second time around today when i got to hear it in person at the 5:00 pm Mass. thank you, again, for being so inspiring! you're the BEST! hope you have a peaceful Sunday. and, i'll see you monday morning at morning prayer and Mass. i don't get to go to daily Mass everyday, but i don't have to be at work till 10:00am on monday, since it's my b-day. so, the best way to start the day is with morning prayer and Mass with all of you at Sacred Heart! see you soon! PEACE!
