Overheard at the Drive-Thru

Friar: "I'll have a number six with a Diet Coke."

Other Friar: "What's number six?"

Friar: "I don't even know! I just say a number and enjoy being surprised!"

Love it! I don't think I could do it, but I love it!

I know, Barb, me neither. If I were doing such a thing I would probably look up a menu on a website, decide what I wanted, write the number on my PDA, and then make sure I had it next to me in the car.

Whether I could do it would depend on the drive-through... I wouldn't order just anything (well, just about anything, actually) at a McD's drive-through.

I love that you labeled this under "obedience." LOL

Depending on the place, it could serve as a very creative way to mortify the will!

That's so cool that you got it!

Your friar has just gotta try a place like the Vietnamese restaurant near me. The menu has numbers, and Vietnamese writing. You could just pick a few random numbers from 100 to 500, and you might get leftover bits of sheep stomach, deep fried, and served with rice gruel.

But if he's lucky, he'll get Pho Bo Vien. (Beef ball noodle soup) Yum!

I got to know Vietnamese cuisine when I was a deacon. I also loved how they sung the whole Mass. Beautiful.
