It is sometimes really awe inspiring that such a simple man as St Francis ended up inspiring a movement 800 + years ago that spans centuries, geographies and (unfortunately in the case of the wayward Anglicans) religions.

And I can say with all confidence that you honour him by your calling and vocation. Also, the fact that you have the courage and wisdom to say the divine liturgy that most resembles that which St Francis would have said; the Tridentine mass in spite of so much oppression past and present speaks volumes for your character and commitment to the traditions which St Francis held dear.

IMHO St Francis was a radical for his time in many ways, but he was at his core a very traditional Catholic Christian. I'll say a prayer for you and your order tomorrow.Qualis Rexnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26883902.post-88860113360764332082009-10-03T19:28:45.426-04:002009-10-03T19:28:45.426-04:00great homily, Fr. My oldest daughter chose St. Francis of Assisi as her confirmation name, and as all her girl friends had chosen female saints, I asked her what it was that caused her to choose him as her model? She said it was because he gave everything for the wee creatures and to care for the poor and suffering. She now teaches art at Memorial High School where she celebrates his day with her "wee creatures." She loves them dearly as they do her.

I enjoyed reading your homily. Wish one day I could "hear" you speak one. They are always centering. I have used them as resources at times when I am called to "break open the Word" with our RCIA Candidates. So thank you for that too! CathyA Bit of the Blarneyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18418671116015181693noreply@blogger.com
