I do know the perfect examples: you smash a window, confession tells you you've been forgiven and indulgence means the Saints have paid for a new window, because forgiveness itself does not fix the result of a sin, it fixes you.<br /><br />But, but, I cannot say what the equivalent of this in spiritual life really is, I can't imagine any example that convinces me. I do trust the Church and thus do not have to be able to write a book on dogmatic right from the heart. Still, I'd love to get it completely.
