Overheard in the Parish Office

Priest: Have you picked the readings from Sacred Scripture for your wedding?

Bride: Not yet. I just don't want that one that everybody has, you know, 'love is jealous..."

Priest: I think it says, 'love is not jealous.'

Groom: [laughs]

another improbable question: My Dad and I were standing in the rear of church waiting for the wedding march to begin. I was all decked out in my wedding finery. He said: Are you sure you want to get married!!!!?????

uhhhhhh, do you think we can stop this now????????? Of course, I was ready to get married. But i had to chuckle...

  2. I reckon he was thinking of:

    "Love is strong as death,
    jealousy as relentless as Sheol.
The flash of it is a flash of fire,
a flame of the Lord himself.
    Love no floods can quench,
    no torrents drown."
    -Song of Songs 8:6-7

but I reckon you know that!

    Blessed Eastertide, Father!

Faithful, or even just thoughtful criticisms are always welcome. Uninformed rudeness to other posters or to the Lord and His Church is not.

I also reserve the right to reject comments promoting things like private revelations and fringe points of view, if it seems to me like they are being presented in a misleading way.

If you raise a disagreement with something I say but I do not respond, please do not feel slighted or insulted, or imagine that this automatically means I disagree or agree with you. It's just that I don't find the comment box to be a constructive medium for certain forms of debate.
