"Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." Through the humanity of Christ, God has put his own divine forgiveness into our hands. My homily for this weekend is posted here.
hi Fr. C! what a beautiful and very inspiring homily on forgiveness and love! as i sit here in church right now reflecting on the readings and your great homily, the message that i get is that forgiveness and love really go together and that when we forgive and love, we will have peace! it's definitely not an easy thing to forgive or love everyone, and we are often hardest on ourselves or those closest to us. but, for us, who are Christians, God gives us what we need (so many blessings and grace) if only we are open to it. and to be open to God's healing power of forgiveness and love, we need to know God and to know God, we need to spend time in prayer and meditation, listening to Him, especially, so that we can do HIS Will in our lives. this brings me back to one of my favorite passages from Holy Scripture, where God tells us "to act justly, to love tenderly and to walk humbly with your God."~Micah 6:8~ i'd like to share a quote from one of my favorite saints: "LOVE proves itself by deeds, so how am i to show my love? Great deeds are forbidden me. the only way i can prove my love is by scattering flowers and these flowers are every little sacrifice, every glance and word, and the doing of the least actions for love."~St. Therese of Lisieux~ so, if everything we do is done for the love of God, alone, it is possible to be forgiving and loving people who can live peacefully with one another. PAX ET BONUM! ~ tara t ~
