As workers in the vineyard of God's creation, we are expected to cultivate a harvest of righteousness, justice, and peace. God will accomplish his creative purpose, and if we don't help, the privilege will be taken from us and given to someone else. Let us consider ourselves warned. My homily for this weekend is posted
here.

what an inspirational homily, fr. C! thank you, again, as always! it is certainly a great honor and privilege to be "hired" by God. but, as you said in your homily, we will lose our "job" if we do not produce. the second reading from the letter of St. Paul to the Philippians really speaks to me about how we can be good workers/servants of God. the quality time we spend with God in prayer can do so much for us and can really help us as His workers in the vineyard. how can we know someone or learn from them if we don't spend time with them? that's why prayer is so important. St. Paul tells us to have no anxiety and to already be thankful even before we ask God for anything. (it's also important to really spend time listening to God and not just constantly be asking for things all the time.) God will teach us and reveal so much to us when we are in prayer with Him. God will give us the wisdom and understanding and PEACE that we need to be His workers in the vineyard. through our quality time spent with God in prayer, through frequently (even daily, if we can) receiving Jesus in the Holy Eucharist and through time spent with each other (we need each other for encouragement and fellowship) we can go out into God's vineyard without fear and anxiety, but with a great peace and strength, instead. this doesn't mean we won't go through any trials or temptations in life because we will - we're living in the world and these things happen, but we will go through these trials and temptations in a different way - "then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus," as St. Paul tells us in his letter to the Philippians and, also, St. Paul says in his letter: "finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. keep on doing what you have learned and received and seen in me. then the God of peace will be with you." ~ Philippians 4:6-9 ~
